East Lake Campground
East Lake Campground is along the southern shore of 1,044-acre East Lake, part of the Newberry National Volcanic Monument, south of Bend.
The 5-mile-diameter Newberry Caldera encircles both East Lake and its neighbor, Paulina Lake. Motorized and non-motorized boats are permitted on the lake, however there is a 10 MPH speed limit. A boat launch ramp and dock are located within East Lake Campground. Anglers fish the lake for rainbow trout, brown trout and Kokanee salmon. A hiking trail connects the campground to the Crater Rim Trail and other area trails.
East Lake Campground features 27 campsites among the trees along the shore of East Lake. Sandy Pumice Beach, which borders the lake, is only a short walk from any campsite. All the campsites can accommodate tents and RVs or trailers. A good number of the lakefront sites have pull-through driveways. There are no hook-ups. Reservations that include a Friday or Saturday night must be for at least 2 nights; holiday weekend reservations that include a Friday or Saturday night require a 3-night stay.
