Lava Flow Campground is on the east side of Davis Lake, down a short road off Highway 46.

Visitors to the campground come for the wonderful view of the lake and distant mountains as well as for the outstanding fly fishing. Lake levels change considerably during the year. At times the campground may be closed to protect wildlife.

Lava Flow has 6 single campsites for RVs, trailers, or tents. The campground has somewhat the feel of a dispersed camping area, but there are picnic tables and fire pits to mark the camping areas. A mature forest provides plenty of shade. There is no drinking water and no garbage service.

General Camping Information

Opening and closing dates of campgrounds are only estimates, usually dependent on weather conditions. Not all campsites can accommodate trailers or RVs of all lengths. Check carefully on the website when you make your reservation to be sure your vehicle will fit your campsite.

In order to prevent the spread of invasive insects, firewood from outside the area is not permitted.

Attractions and Activities

  • Enjoy beautiful views of the Cascade peaks from around the lake.
  • Enjoy excellent fly fishing in Davis lake for trophy rainbow trout. Largemouth bass are also found in the lake. Only fy fishing is permitted in Davis Lake. Fishing is best done from a boat or float tube.
  • Boating is permitted in Davis Lake, although there is a 10 MPH speed limit. Find a launch a ramp at East Davis and Lava Flow Areas. A primitive boat launch is at West Davis Day Use Area.
  • Watch for wildlife such as Rocky Mountain elk and American pika. Birders watch for owls, woodpeckers, bald eagles, ospreys, ruffed grouse, and many more.
  • Drive to nearby Wickiup Reservoir.

Key Lava Flow Campground Regulations

  1. Campfires may only be in campground provided fire pits.
  2. Help prevent the spread of invasive insects by obtaining firewood locally.
  3. Dogs must be kept on leash and attended at all times.
  4. Use of chainsaws is not permitted in the campground.
  5. Quiet Hours extend from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM
