Thielsen View Campground

Thielsen View Campground is on the west shore of Diamond Lake in the Umpqua National Forest, 83 miles east of Roseburg. Majestic Mount Bailey looms nearby, but it is the magnificent views of Mt. Thielsen that gave the campground its name.

Diamond Lake is a favorite destination for summer travelers. Fishing, canoeing, and standup paddleboarding are popular. The lake has a 10 MPH speed limit. Cyclists and hikers take advantage of the 11-mile, paved trail around the lake. Crater Lake National Park is only 15 miles to the south.

Thielsen View Campground has 60 campsites in a mature conifer forest. Two-thirds of the sites are available for first-come, first-served; the other 20 may be reserved ahead of time. All the campsites can accommodate RVs, trailers, and tents.

Spend the day at South Shore Picnic Area next to Broken Arrow Campground. Find picnic sites, fireplaces, running water, and flush toilets at the picnic area. Sites are adapted for persons with disabilities. Enjoy a playground, volleyball court, horseshoe pits, & a swimming beach.

Visit nearby Whitehorse Falls Viewpoint and Picnic Area, Watson Falls, and Lemolo Lake.

Drive to Crater Lake National Park.

Rent a boat at Diamond Lake Resort, everything from fishing boats to paddle boats and bumper boats.

Find 5 public boat ramps and 3 fish cleaning stations around Diamond Lake. The North End Boat Ramp has a concrete jetty for shoreline fishing. The jetty is designed for persons with disabilities.

Schedule an outing with the Oregon Mountain Guides for guided mountain biking and hiking excursions.

Drive on Highway 138 to beautiful Toketee Falls.

Hike or cycle on the famous North Umpqua Trail.

Hike on the Mt. Thielsen Trail to a nice viewpoint for the peak at mile 1.6.

Cool off at the Poole Creek Swimming Site at Lake Lemolo. Also, fish for Kokanee, brook and rainbow trout.

Quiet Hours extend from 10:00 PM to 8:00 AM.
Dogs must be kept on leash and attended at all times.
Campfires may only be in developed fire pits.
Do your part to prevent the spread of invasive insects by obtaining your firewood locally.
