Broken Arrow Campground is at the southern end of 3½-mile-long Diamond Lake in the Umpqua National Forest, 84 miles east of Roseburg.

While the campground is inland from the lake and not particularly attractive, it is close to the excellent South Shore Picnic Area with horseshoe pits, a volleyball court, a playground, picnic areas, and a swim beach. Campers at Broken Arrow relax while enjoying views of Mt. Thielsen and Mt. Bailey. Diamond Lake is popular for boating and fishing (speed limit 10 MPH). Nearby hiking and biking trails are often favorite destinations.

Broken Arrow Campground boasts 120 campsites for RVs, trailers, and tents. Some sites may be available as first-come, first-serve sites. There are also 3 Group Campsites.

Broken Arrow Group Campground

Four group campsites are available at Broken Arrow Group Campground. The sites have the same amenities as the main Broken Arrow Campground. All sites are wheelchair accessible. Reservations are nonspecific; sites will be assigned upon arrival. Reservations may be made up to a year in advance of arrival date.

Two campsites can accommodate up to 40 people and 5 vehicles. (These areas will each take 5 motorhomes or 5 trailers (including towed vehicles) with space for 3 extra cars.)

The third site holds up to 56 people and 10 vehicles. This area will take 10 motorhomes (with towed vehicles) or 10 trailers with room for 3 extra cars.

Attractions and Activities

  • Drive 15 miles to Crater Lake National Park.
  • Rent a boat at Diamond Lake Resort, everything from fishing boats to paddle boats and bumper boats.
  • Find 5 public boat ramps and 3 fish cleaning stations around Diamond Lake. The North End Boat Ramp has a concrete jetty for shoreline fishing. The jetty is designed for persons with disabilities.
  • Spend the day at the South Shore Picnic Area next to Broken Arrow Campground. Find picnic sites, fireplaces, running water, and flush toilets at the picnic area. Sites are adapted for persons with disabilities. Enjoy a playground, volleyball court, horseshoe pits, & a swimming beach.
  • Schedule an outing with the Oregon Mountain Guides for guided mountain biking and hiking excursions.
  • Drive west on Highway 138 to beautiful Toketee Falls.
  • Hike or cycle on the famous North Umpqua Trail.
  • Hike on the Mt. Thielsen Trail to a nice viewpoint for the peak at mile 1.6.
  • Cool off at the Poole Creek Swimming Site. Also fish for Kokanee, brook and rainbow trout.

Key Broken Arrow Campground Regulations

  1. Quiet Hours extend from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM.
  2. Dogs must be kept on leash and attended at all times.
  3. Help avoid the spread of invasive insects by obtaining firewood locally.
  4. Campfires may only be in developed fire pits.
