Whispering Pine Horse Camp

Whispering Pine Horse Camp is in the Deschutes National Forest, 10 miles southwest of Sisters, Oregon. Equestrians like the camp for its proximity to great riding trails in the Three Sisters Wilderness Area.

Whispering Pine Horse Camp offers 9 campsites for those with horses. Each site has a 4-horse stall. Creek water is available for livestock, but there is no potable water. Visitors must bring their own water or filter creek water using a wilderness-type water filter. Campsites are well shaded by a Ponderosa pine and birch forest. One site has a pull-through driveway.

Attractions near Whispering Pine Horse Camp:	Set out from the Pole Creek Trailhead for rides into the Three Sisters Wilderness. Bird watch along Trout Creek, watch for a variety birds, including warblers, woodpeckers, forest owls, and pigmy nuthatch. NW Horse Trails recommends taking "a decommissioned forest road to Millican Crater Trailhead and do a fabulous 16-mile loop through the Three Sisters Wilderness that will take you over Scott Pass, past North and South Matthieu Lakes, along several impressive lava flows, and around the base of Millican Crater."

Ride or hike on the Metolius-Windigo Trail, open to hikers, bikers and horses, more than 100 miles in length.
Head over to the Blue River Reservoir for swimming, boating, water skiing, and fishing.
Tour the Leaburg Fish Hatchery, 4 miles east of Leaburg. Open daily.
Play a round of golf at the Tokatee Golf Club in McKenzie Bridge.
Hike on the Hackleman Old Growth Trail west of Lost Prairie Group Campground.
Hike or mountain bike on the 26-mile McKenzie River National Recreation Trail.

Key Whispering Pine Horse Camp Regulations

Horse campers must use Certified Weed-Seed-free hay.
Horses must be kept in stalls provided and may not be tethered or picketed outside of stalls. No high-lines or portable corrals please.
Quiet Hours are from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM.
Prevent the spread of invasive pests by obtaining firewood locally.
Fires are only permitted in designated fire receptacles and must be attended. Fires must be extinguished upon departure.
Pets must be kept on leash and attended at all times.
Avoid problems with bears by securing food and scented items in a vehicle or other bear-proof locker.
