Champoeg State Heritage Area is in Marion County on the south side of the Willamette River, south of Portland and a few miles southwest of Wilsonville. The site includes forest, fields, and wetlands. It was the location for the first government formed in Oregon in 1843. Several historic buildings are found here.
Visitors enjoy hiking, touring the garden with native plants, and exploring the historic sites.
Champoeg Campground has 81 well-spaced campsites. Full hook-ups are available at 8 sites, and electric and water hook-ups are at 67 sites. Six other campsites are designated as walk-in, tent sites. There are also 6 Yurts, 6 Cabins, 3 Group Tent Campsites, a group RV Loop, and a hiker/bicyclist camp.

Champoeg Campground offers 3 group tent campsites. Each site can accommodate up to 25 people and 6 vehicles. A nightly fee is charged for additional vehicles. The group sites are available from May through October only. A maximum of 3 RVs is permitted per site. Each group site has picnic tables, a large group fire pit, and an electric outlet. Vault toilets are nearby. Flush toilets and showers are found nearby in other parts of the park.

Group RV Loop
The Group RV Loop can accommodate up to 100 people and 20 vehicles up to 30 feet in length. The site has 16 paved sites, 5 of which have electric hook-ups. There are 15 picnic tables, a 32" x 32" BBQ. Tent camping is permitted. The adjacent Meeting Hall can also be rented. The standard fee covers the first 10 vehicles. Additional vehicles are $10 each per night.

Champoeg Campground offers 6 Yurts with electric heating. Yurts are listed for 5 occupants. There is no smoking or cooking in Yurts. Some Yurts allow pets. Visitors must bring their own bedding.
The campground also has 6 Cabins available. The cabins feature electric heating and lighting. The cabins also include a futon and bunk bed. Visitors bring their own bedding. The cabins have a limit of 5 occupants. No RVs, pick-up campers, or camping trailers are allowed by the cabins. Three cabins are pet friendly. No smoking is permitted in the cabins. Restrooms and showers are nearby. A picnic table and fire ring are outside.

Watch for wildlife in the park, especially the many species of birds.
Tour the Champoeg Visitor Center with historic exhibits and a museum store.
Tour the Pioneer Memorial Building Pavilion and Monument, the Manson Barn and Farmstead, and the Newell Pioneer Village.
Take the 4-mile bicycle trail that begins at the Riverside Day-use Area and ends at the historic Butteville Store.
Explore historic Butteville. Don't overlook the Butteville Store with evening dinner and live music on certain days. Reservations recommended.
