South Umpqua Falls Campground

South Umpqua Falls Campground is set in a pretty meadow bounded by a mature conifer forest. The campground is 43 miles east of Canyonville, deep in the Umpqua National Forest. Across the road from the campground are a picnic area and South Umpqua Falls. An observation deck overlooks the falls and the accompanying fish ladder. No fishing is permitted.

South Umpqua Falls Campground has 19 campsites which can accommodate RVs, trailers, and tents. All of the sites are first-come, first-served. There is no potable water at the campground.

In order to prevent the spread of invasive insects, firewood from outside the area is not permitted.

  • Seek out the many local hiking trails.
  • Find great OHV trail riding on Beaver Creek Trail, Bunchgrass Meadows Trail, Coffin Butte Trail, and Elk Horn Trail.
  • Head out mountain biking on Beaver Creek Trail, Cow Creek Trail, Devil's Flat Trail, Maranath Trail, and others.
  • Rent a Forest Service cabin such as Acker Rock Lookout, Butler Butte Cabin, or Whiskey Camp Guard Station.
  • Experienced rock climbers, test your skills at Acker Rock or Trail Creek.
  • From Tiller Ranger Station, walk to the historic 1920's era "cupola style" fire lookout.
  • Take the scenic drive along the Myrtle Creek-Canyonville Tour Route.
  • Go swimming at Deer Lick Falls when water levels are safe.
  • Drive out Jackson Creek Road to see The World's Tallest Sugar Pine Tree.
