The campground serves as the trailhead for hikers, mountain bikers, and equestrians who set out to access the Fremont National Recreation Trail.

Chewaucan Crossing Campground has 5 campsites which can accommodate tents, RVs, or trailers. The campground has adequate room for trailer turnarounds and features horse corrals. All the campsites are first-come, first served. There is no potable water at the campground.
