Deschutes River Campground
Deschutes River Campground is in Cove Palisades State Park, north of Bend. The campground is near the park headquarters on a peninsula between the Crooked River and Deschutes River arms of Lake Billy Chinook. The lake is popular for boating, water-skiing, swimming, and fishing. Anglers most often fish for kokanee salmon, largemouth bass, and rainbow and brown trout. Boat rentals are available at a nearby marina. Paddlers enjoy the calm waters from fall to spring. Several hiking trails are nearby, including the the Tam-a-lau Trail.
Deschutes River Campground offers 180 campsites for RVs, trailers and tents. The reservation website includes Deschutes River Campground along with Crooked River Campground. For Deschutes River Campground, look for Loops A, B, and C. Campsites in Loops A and C have full hook-ups, while those in Loop B are tent sites with water nearby. Tent sites allow one self-contained camping unit (camper, RV, trailer, etc.) up to a maximum of 20 feet long. All campsites include a picnic table, fire pit, and tent pad. The lake is within walking distance.
Three group campsites for up to 25 people each are near the Deschutes River Campground. Group sites allow 1 RV (30' or shorter) and offer electric hook-ups. A maximum of 6 vehicles are permitted at the group site. Showers are not available at the group sites.
General Camping Information
Opening and closing dates for some campgrounds are only estimates, usually dependent on weather conditions. Not all campsites can accommodate trailers or RVs of all lengths.
Accessible Sites
Designated Accessible sites are usually reserved for people with disabilities who have a vehicle displaying an accessible parking placard or license plate.
